Written by A.N. Fair and performed by Other Stories, Muslim First Dates is a comedy about how third generation Muslim Women navigate dating whilst keeping in line with tradition and religion.
Developed from the South Asian Female experience during lockdown Muslim First Dates tells the story of Jemima, a 27 year old Doctor.
Stuck in a coffee shop in Newcastle, Jemima has five dates back to back in between her shift at the hospital. Arranged by her mum, her mum’s friends and the Imam from the mosque, Jemima has her first experience of Muslim dating. Navigating culture and religion, in what seems the longest afternoon ever, she realises that maybe she can’t have it all. Dating is hard. Especially when you’re single, Muslim and a woman.
